Wuhan has the Yangtze River and its tributaries of Hanjiang River, Dongjing River, Sheshui River, Jie River, Fu River, Zhujia River, Sha River, Dapshui River and Jushui River and so on. Centered at the urban area and led by the Yangtze River, those rivers constitute a large water network and ensure a good ecological environment. The Yangtze River enters Wuhan City at Hannan District from southwest to northeast, and turns to southeast at Tianxing Sandbank, then changes to northeast at Zuoling, and leaves the city at Dafu of Xinzhou District. The total flow path is 150.5 km long and this part of the Yangtze River in Wuhan is large in flow amount. The average annual volume totals 710 billion cubic meters. With a long flood season and significant water level changes, although the watercourse is straight, there are hills approaching the river bank, controlling and restraining the watercourse. The siltation makes Tianxing District (Sandbank), Baisha District (Sandbank), and other sandbanks. The narrowest point of the Yangtze River in Wuhan is the section under the Yangtze River Bridge, 1100 meters wide. And its widest point is in Qingshan District, 3880 meters. Han River enters Wuhan at Caidian District and runs into the Yangtze River in Nan’anju, leaving 22 bends on its path in Wuhan.
