The Seventh Industrial Technology Research Institute in Wuhan Moves into the Future City

June 21, Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Geological Resources and Environment signed contract to move in the Future City in East Lake High-tech Zone. The institute was jointly invested by the Municipal People’s Government of Wuhan and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).


In order to transform educational and scientific advantages to innovative development advantages, promote the construction of East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone, and realize the innovation-driven development mode, city started strategic cooperation efforts with the colleges and universities in the city from last year. The cooperation resulted in the start-up of construction of a number of industrial technology research institutes, in arduous search of an innovation-driven development path with local characteristics.


Currently, there are a total of seven industrial technology research institutes in Wuhan. Six of them, other than New Energy Automobiles Industry Institute, are located in East Lake High-tech Zone. These six are: Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology, Wuhan New Energy Institute of Access Equipment & Technology, Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Optoelectronics, Wuhan Industrial Research Institute of Intelligent Equipment, Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Navigation and Location-based Services, and Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Geological Resources and Environment. Among these, Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Navigation and Location-based Services has implemented its operation as a company.


According to the plan, Wuhan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Geological Resources and Environment will focus on promoting the research and development and industrialization of advanced geological equipment and industrial technology; deep ground, deep sea, and deep space mining equipment, soil and groundwater monitoring equipment and restoration technology, resources and environmental analysis and testing equipment and technology, and gems and jewelry testing equipment and development technology. No less than 30 enterprises will be incubated from here in 5-8 years, forming a national strategic alliance for technology innovation of geological resources and environment industry.


Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Yin Hongfu, Party Secretary of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) Hao Xiang, President of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) Wang Yanxin, Mayor Tang Liangzhi, Member of Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee Feng Jichun, Vice Mayor Xing Zaozhong, Vice Chairman of Municipal Political Consultative Conference and Director of East Lake High-tech Zone Administrative Committee Zhang Wentong, and Secretary-General of the Municipal Government Guo Shengwei attended the signing ceremony.
